Free Activities to for the 30 May Bank Holiday

This weekend is another Bank Holiday, and we can’t wait! What will you do to relax, learn, and enjoy your leisure time? We’ve hand-picked a bunch of cool events and activities you can do by yourself or with your family that don’t cost anything! Check them out, and add one event to your itinerary.

1. Free Open House Day at Stanmore Fire Station

Stanmore Fire Station is celebrating 150 years of London Fire Brigade, and they’re inviting you and your family to enjoy an open day with fire and rescue demonstrations, safety tips, and meet and greets with your local firefighters. It’s a good opportunity to teach the kids about fire safety, and there’s a lot of fun stuff to go along with it! There will be rides, games, a petting zoo, and introductions to the fire dog named Sherlock. It’s the perfect way to get out in your community.

2. Cheese-Rolling Festival in Gloucestershire

If you’ve never heard of the epic cheese races on Cooper’s Hill, you may want to check it out. A group of contestants chase a wheel of cheese down the hill, and the first person to reach the bottom wins the race and gets the traditionally-made Double Gloucester cheese to keep. People travel from all over the world to attend this event, and there are races for men, women, and children. If you choose to compete, please note that this is a competitive race downhill. There are often bumps and scrapes, but it’s a lot of fun!

The Exmouth Festival hosts various attractions, including live music sessions and activities for children. We love it because it supports the community of local vendors and musicians. Admission is free, but they do ask that you make a small donation to keep the festival going every year. Most events within the festival are free, but a few charge a small fee such as £4 per person. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the day!

A day at the beach with the fam jam? Yes please! Pack a picnic lunch, some folding chairs, towels, and sun cream, and set yourself up on one of these close-by sandy beaches. You could use a mini day break by the seaside to finish up that novel you’ve been meaning to read!
